Yellowfin's wasn't so flawless this time. In fact, it started off as a disaster. We walked in tonight at about the same time as two other parties and we were all ignored for about 10 minutes. The hostess seated us and we were ignored for another 10 minutes. Then a server came over to ask if anybody was taking care of us, we said no, and she left and never came back. Then David showed up and saved the day. He took care of us and did everything possible to turn the night around. He was successful enough that this is not a negative review. I still like Yellowfin's but my recent experience and the tone of some other recent reviews makes me wonder what's going on there. Quick update (10/14/13): Some friends told us last night that David is the owner of Yellowfin's. Assuming that's true, I just want to thank David for his care and attention to detail. And David, I don't know what went wrong when we got to the restaurant, but someone wasn't paying attention and I think you might want to have a talk with that person.

Food and service was good. What let this place down in my opinion was the expectation of something better. it positions itself as casual fine dining and while it lives up to the casual the finer dining and food was ok at best. Everything was satisfactory and tasted fine but my expectations were higher given the price point. The byob was a nice touch.

Awesome BYOB spot! I ordered the haddock and it was very good. Meal came with house salad and the bread/butter was delicious!! Service was great, such a friendly and helpful staff!

We went here last night (it was recommended and was supposed to have gluten free food) but we were sorely disappointed. The waitress was pretty clueless about the gluten in the food. The special of the day (rack of lamb) cost twice as much as many other entrees, and way more than any other item. We waited for 1.5 hours to get it and our lobster was rubbery and tough. At least the house salad was good. Go to the Landmark instead.

Food: 4 stars (dinner, not brunch) Atmosphere: 3 stars Service: 2 stars Brunch here is not good, but dinner is... We called on our way into town (Ocean Park, ME) to ask how late they served and were told we'd need to make a reservation. The good news was, they were happy to take one for the same night, just two hours later actually. The girl informed us that the restaurant is BYOB -- Bring Your Own Booze, and encouraged us to bring a bottle of wine, so we did! I loved the all-American look of the yellow house that the restaurant is in; strewn with little white lights on a summer night right next to the beach, it looked very romantic. It was even more romantic inside, with dim lights, candles at each clothed table, sweeping sail-like drapes suspended from the ceiling and a 30-gallon fish tank gracefully illuminating the dining room. Our bottle of wine was taken from us at the door and reappeared at our table opened and placed in a chiller. I ordered the lazyman's stuffed lobster and my BF ordered the rack of lamb, which was a special that evening. The quality of the food was superb, although we both needed to use the salt shaker (usually never touch it). But I'd rather have to add my own salt to taste, than for the food to arrive over-salted. So no biggie. Our server seemed a little preoccupied, maybe overwhelmed, even though the restaurant wasn't full at 9:30PM; service both visits was slow. We asked what time they close and the response was "Once everyone has left. We tend to seat as late as there's a demand for" but by 10pm this Friday night they began sweeping around us as we ate (which is a HUGE pet peeve of mine) and, quite rudely I thought, they turned off the light in the fish tank which was giving the room its only real light! We and the other table of folks got the message loud and clear: time to leave! Yet we hadn't yet finished our entrees. We wanted to try brunch, so the following weekend we called ahead on a Sunday morning to make a 10:30 reservation, only to arrive and have the hostess/server admit that she hadn't checked the messages on the phone that morning! Turns out we didn't need a reservation, as there was only one other table occupied when we walked in! Food at brunch was abysmal. Home fries were WAY over-salted. Poached eggs arrived with broken yokes (undercooked). Steak (from the Steak & Eggs) which had been ordered medium-rare arrived medium-well (another pet peeve of mine -- overcooked beef!) We had the same server from dinner and again she seemed overwhelmed and was not particularly attentive (e.g. she called over from another table she was clearing to ask us how everything was). In their defense, it was the last week of summer (pre-Labor Day), so maybe they were beat and winding down for the season, who knows? All in all, I would (and will!) give them a try again next season. This place has great potential, so I think you should give them a shot!

Loved this place!!!! It's BYOB, I had the chicken special and it was great. Kathryn was our waitress and she was so friendly and helped us figure out where to go out for the night after dinner. The owner and his sister are two of the most amazing people I've ever met. I recommend dining here if you ever in the Old orchard beach area.

THE place to go for great food in a comfortable yet modern atmosphere in Old Orchard Beach, plus BYOB? How can you top that? The place was spotless, the waitstaff was personable and helpful, food was delicious with plenty of nightly specials, and the owner and his sister were so friendly it topped off the great experience our group had. Joined yelp to review this place, it was that great. Enjoy!

What a wonderful meal and great experience. We have a group of 10 women who go to OOB every year for a girl's weekend. Anyone who visits OOB will know that finding a NICE restaurant in the area is a bit of a challenge. They are also BYOB which makes it very affordable. The food and service are top notch!! This was our third visit to Yellowfin's. Our second trip was not so good (fatty tuna and bad service) but we were so happy to see that corrected this year. Our food was excellent, atmosphere beautiful as always and a WONDERFUL waitress named Shannon. She happilly accomodated all of our requests, took a group picture for us and was prompt and courteous. We were so happy to find our Girl's Weekend GO TO restaurant was back in good graces with us.

Just ate here last night. We called at the last minute and David not only stayed open for us but the food was fantastic. From now on a trip to Old Orchard Beach equals a trip to Yellowfin's.

We came here for dinner and I thought the food was very good. I got the chicken parmesan. The atmosphere was pleasant and the wait staff was so sweet! I went to the bathroom and felt like I was walking into a spa (it might've been the nicest room in the place!) Bread, salad, entree all delicious.

Admittedly, it has been years since my family has dined here. We went for dinner ONCE and have never returned -- with good reason. My husband and I actually cannot even recall what we ordered because it was that forgettable; however, I do remember the feeling of utter disappointment during the meal and leaving the establishment. I had so hoped to like this place as it's so much further to Kennebunkport or Portland for a high-end meal. Specifically, what peeved me about this dinner experience was that the macaroni and cheese kids meal (kraft by the way) was a dismal portion befitting an infant and with a pricetag of approximately $6. So when we had to order 2 of those to feed our petite 3 year old, I was astonished. At this point, I cannot recall if a drink was included in the price of the meal or not. And far be it from me to search for a bargain meal, period. But when you leave and you've spent close to $20 on a toddler for Kraft dinner and a dessert, let's face it, you might feel the same way. Besides that, the restaurant was empty, as we used to eat at 5ish then, and I remember the waitstaff being inattentive, slow, and that was strange since we were the ONLY patrons there.

Visiting Ocean Park and just discovered Yellowfins . Great meal and service! The owner was working as hard as the staff to make sure everything was perfect. Bring your own bottle of wine and the staff will open it and serve you. Had the aha tuna for an appetizer followed by a wonderful salad with fresh raspberry vinaigrette and blue cheese. Enjoyed the surf and turf which was filet medallions and stuffed scallops.

I have been coming to ocean park since I was a child with my family, and now have family that lives here year round. As you may know finding a quality restaurant that is not fast foodish in the area can be tough - despite the high amount of tourists that come flocking in for the summer months. I remember coming here to this place a long time back for donuts and greasy spoon breakfast years ago. I had no idea it turned into a restaurant until a couple years ago. My husband and I decided to try it this summer as we are there the fourth of July week every year for our anniversary - we were married on old orchard beach. What a pleasant surprise on the decor and ambiance - such a change from what I remembered. I find the place beautiful. I love the flowing white tapestry (if that's what it is called haha). The service was ok - not memorable for sure, but it was a holiday week. For food I had the shrimp scampi - again it was just ok. I would have liked a bit more flavor and bite to my dish. I do love the fact that you can byob which is what we did. I will be sure to try Yellowfins again next year - may try brunch this time or a different dinner dish.

I was in search of a bright, airy, reasonably priced venue to host a baby shower in Southern Maine. I don't think I could have found a better place that fit the bill. From the first conversation with David, the owner, to the end of the event he was very accommodating to all my requests. We did a brunch buffet and the food was all great. All the guests were astounded by how perfect the location is for a baby shower. From the light yellow walls and beautiful woodwork to the fabric pieces billowing from the ceiling it proved to be a great atmosphere for a shower. Not to mention you are pretty much on the ocean in an old Victorian house. And if that's not enough, they had me at byob.

On our recent trip to Old Orchard Beach we happened upon this wonderful restaurant by chance. We were seated immediately right next to the beautiful aquarium that is the focal point of the elegant but understated dining room. I loved the fresh open feel of the room, the crisp fresh linens and lovely table setting. Our server was excellent, informative and friendly, describing the specials in detail and answering our questions patiently and courteously. This is a BYOB establishment and our server whisked our bottle of white wine away, returning it promptly in a chiller with two wine glasses. Everything about the meal was superb from the fres hly-baked, crisp hot bread through dessert. We both chose the shrimp cocktail appetizer, my husband had the signature Yellowfin Tuna, cooked rare, and I chose the Lazy Man's Lobster en Casserole. I cannot recommend this establishment highly enough! It was the perfect ending to our mini-vacation, on a rainy night in a lovely Maine seacoast town. We can't wait to return to OOB next summer and to Yellowfin's! Within walking distance of our cottage and the ocean, we could not ask for more !

Went here for my sister's wedding rehearsal dinner with over 40 people. The atmosphere was great and very light and clean and they have a really nice giant fish tank in the back. Our food was very well done and had a bit of an up class spirit, but with a warm casual feel. The wait staff was great and really seemed to enjoy my crazy uncle not only ending up in the ladies room making the brides mades laugh, but the kitchen as well to just see how things where going with the chiefs. They even put together a surprise birthday cake for my mom with all kinds of fresh fruit and cream. I personally had the Chicken Parm. and would have it again.

Tonite was an extraordinarily dissappointing experience on every level. The food across the board was barely edible. The service was minimal at best, but the over priced cold meals and the hour plus we waited for them, was simply inexcuseable. Save your money and skip this joint. And if, for some insane reason, you still want to try this place, do not order any"italian" or fish dish. The bread and butter was fine. -PS Bring a lot of booz. You ll have plenty of time to drink it-all of it-and maybe, when the food does arrive, you'll be so drunk you'll forget to eat or better yet that you were ever there at all.

Great place. Great food. Great service. I stumbled upon this place trying to get to Huots that was recommended by some of the nurses at southern Maine. I'm happy I got a chance to eat here. Will definitely visit again.
